Xena provides test modules with all Ethernet speeds from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps, including tri-speed 10/40/100Gbps test modules. The current available form factors include SFP, SFP+, QSFP+, CFP, 10Gbase-T, and soon to be release CFP4, QSFP28, and CXP based test modules.
Xena’s state-of-the art traffic generation engine is capable of accurately emulating large numbers of L2-3 traffic flows with user specified traffic profiles. Traffic headers include IPv4, IPv6, UDP, MPLS, QinQ, and many other protocols, and software applications for automated and easy generation of thousands of traffic streams in large scale testbeds.
Real-time and accurate hardware based performance statistics per port, stream, and filter for latency, jitter, loss, throughput, and BER, are available from the user friendly software applications, plus real-time histograms, wire-speed wire-shark based packet capture, ultra-accurate network convergence performance statistics, and 40/100G PRBS statistics
Advanced monitoring of performance statistics with database logging and real-time graphical charts updated in real-time, is a powerful tool for troubleshooting and product characterisation. Other monitoring functions include transparent port-2-port loop modes (also known as inline loop mode), where all Rx path functions are available such as filter statistics and wire-speed wire-shark based packet capture, and the ability to join multiple multicast groups per test port.
Timing and synchronisation
Xena provides both 1G and 10G test modules with advanced clock and timing capabilities for validating and demonstrating Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) networks. SMA connectors on the test modules allow for sourcing the reference clock from an external clock reference, and for extracting the received synchronous clock to an external timing analyser with MTIE TIE & MTIE/TDEV charting capability.
Functional and conformance testing
Xena Networks and Veryx Technologies have created a test platform that combines Xena’s high performance, wire-speed Ethernet test hardware with Veryx’s broad portfolio of IP & Ethernet functional and conformance test suites. This makes it easy for network test engineers to do conformance and functional testing for a wide range of network protocols including MEF 2.0, Carrier Ethernet OAM, Carrier Ethernet Ring Protection Switching, and IPv6 Forum Host and Router conformance testing.
Use XenaManager and XenaScripting to send and receive CLI commands as lines of text via a TCP/IP connection. Also supported are client platforms include Tcl, Perl, Python, Java, Ruby, and VBA. All Xena chassis support multiple concurrent scripting sessions, enabling different users to work on the same Xena chassis simultaneously.
We provide a range of software applications for IEEE and ITU-T standardised testing as defined per IEEE RFC 2544, RFC 2889, RFC 3918, and ITU-T Y.1564. These test suites are available as GUI applications and have the unique capability to support integration into test automation environments.
