Luciol Instruments - high resolution photon counting OTDR

Photon-counting OTDR's from Luciol Instruments provide unprecedented levels of resolution and event differentiation. The LOR-200 is particularly well suited to Passive Optical Networks (PON) whilst the v-OTDR is often used for specialist applications and can be customized to meet exact customer specifications.

LOR-200 high resolution OTDR

The LOR-200 is a fully portable OTDR, with the look and feel of a standard portable OTDR. However, it has industry-leading resolution and short optical pulses (user selectable from 2 ns to 1 µs). The LOR-200 was specially designed for Passive Optical Networks (PONs) and can easily see through optical splitters.

Luciol high resolution OTDR
  • Wavelengths : 1310 nm, 1550 nm, 1625 nm (for live mode PONs supervision)
  • Optical power of the laser: » up to +13 dBm output (peak power)
  • Optical pulses length: 2 ns – 5 ns – 10 ns – 30 ns – 100 ns – 300 ns - 1000 ns
  • Maximum length of network: variable between 1.25 and 160 km
  • Minimum spatial resolution : » 5 cm (0.5 ns)
  • Event deadzone: 20 cm (2 ns pulses)
  • Attenuation deadzone: 50 cm (2 ns pulses, ORL= 45 dB)

v-OTDR very high resolution OTDR

The v-OTDR is the highest resolution instrument, sporting sub-ns optical pulses and sub-cm resolution. The v-OTDR can characterize short fiber links, patchcords and assemblies, optical fiber sensors... It can also be used as a zoom on faraway events (up to 40 kms). The v-OTDR is available as a custom system for almost all types of optical fibers and wavelengths, including for example Plastic Optical Fibers (POFs) at 650 nm, large core glass fibers, and all types of single mode fibers.

Luciol very high resolution OTDR
  • High sensitivity (-110 dBm)
  • High resolution (sub-cm range)
  • Options for most types of fibres (SM, MM and POFs)
  • Up to 4 wavelengths, either between 500 nm and 900 nm, or between 1300 nm and 1620 nm.
