provides WLAN professionals with everything they need to perform scientifically accurate site surveys of any a/b/g wireless network. This revolutionary software automates the collection of key Wi-Fi metrics and delivers detailed maps of the results for fast and easy network deployment, provisioning and ongoing optimization.
With Airmagnet Surveyor networking professionals can:
 |
 |
Ensure proper overall signal |
| |
 |
Determine ideal AP placement and output power |
| |
 |
Pinpoint areas of noise and channel interference |
| |
 |
Identify client roaming areas |
| |
 |
Emulate client experience in terms of speed, retry, and packet loss |
| |
 |
Insure adequate bandwidth and speed for any VLAN |
Supporting these core capabilities is a broad set of key features that make AirMagnet Surveyor the most advanced site survey solution available.
Key Features of the AirMagnet Surveyor include:
Active and Passive Surveying
Passive surveys
During a passive survey, the Surveyor software automatically records RF data from all APs and devices in the area. This provides an excellent overview of the entire wireless environment including sources of noise and any wireless signals from neighboring networks.
Active surveys
During an active survey, AirMagnet associates to a particular AP to take more detailed data for that particular device. This allows the solution to emulate an actual client and gather real-world packet data such as connection speed, packet retry rates, and packet loss.
Merged results
When the time comes to analyze the results, Surveyor can automatically merge the results of any number of passive and active surveys to provide the most accurate, data rich analysis possible.
Unmatched Analysis
Complete view of wireless statistics
A complete set of data is available for analysis and plotting including Signal, Noise, Signal/Noise, Frame Speeds, Retry Rates, and Packet Loss.
View by channel or SSID
Users can choose to view results based on SSID or channel making it easy to balance RF issues against VLAN and SSID requirements.
Overlap and Interference
Surveyor provides the ability to see overlap between APs at any time. This allows users to instantly see areas of RF interference or areas where clients may be prone to repeated roaming or "thrashing" between APs.
Simulation
AirMagnet Surveyor allows users to simulate network changes including AP Power, Channel, SSID, and Noise Floor and preview the impact on the network and end-user experience.
